Right Place Right Now continues its Olympic journey with Greco-Roman Wrestler John Stefanowicz
John knew he was destined for great things, but he had no idea how that would unfold. He wrestled in high school and had dreams of going to the Olympics, but his senior year, no colleges showed intertest in him. So, John had to reevaluate and choose a new path.
Enlisting in the Marines, John was on his way to greatness through service to his country, however he never gave up on his wrestling dreams. He continued to compete in weekend tournaments and intramural events, until one day his destiny showed itself. The Marines had a team, and John was going to take his shot.
Reflecting on his journey, John says that he was on the brink of success multiple times and had no idea. So he went back for more. John changed his mindset, and became more disciplined, and now he is Tokyo bound.
In this episode John shares with us:
- What it means to be a Marine, Olympian, and family man
- How you don’t always have to believe in yourself to find success
- How the difficult times have set him up for everything else to be easier
- What does it take to get to the next level
